Everyone Loved My Coca Cola Tofu Knot Skewers Recipe on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch
Did you spot me on Sunday Brunch this weekend? I had so much fun presenting summer barbecue ideas that were suitable for VEGANS! Of course, it was a great opportunity to showcase our Craft Tofu Knots once again! Available exclusively from Waitrose!
A funny moment was when one of the crew asked why I had not used the red coloured meat chopping board, rather than the green chopping board reserved for plant based ingredients! They looked so much like meat skewers, I had fooled the crew! A compliment of sorts!
Our Craft Tofu Knots made their debut on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch back in January 2022, and within a year I have been back on the show demonstrating a new way to enjoy them for the summer - skewered and glazed with a sticky sauce.
The guests who were trying the dishes couldn't believe that the skewers were not meat - Kerry Howard, Aston Merrygold. Nadia Rose and Dave Gorman chowed down happily, and Kerry even said it was both a meal and a dessert in one - both sweet and savoury at the same time.
I served our Craft Tofu Knots alongside other miso delights - a Watermelon Sushi, marinated in miso paste and sesame, and a Miso Harissa Jackfruit Tacos too, which went down a storm!
This was my fourth time on Sunday Brunch, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! It’s such a great crew! Simon and Tim are always so welcoming and fun! The Tofu Knots were a real surprise to everyone, as nobody had tried dry tofu before, which gave me a great opportunity to talk about how it's made and why it's special.
On the show, I was inspired to create dishes that vegans would love at a barbecue. If you don’t eat meat, barbecues can be really boring; either veggie burgers or vegetables on a skewer, so I wanted to create something different and satisfying for those who are on a plant-based diet.
My Coca Cola Tofu Knot Skewers are full of flavour, texture and NUTRITION! Yes, with over 40% protein, these tofu knots are super satisfying and healthy for you too. Basted with a sticky coca cola and soy sauce, you will LOVE these.
These recipes are a little novel and will certainly get everyone talking about them, something new for your barbecue repertoire. To read more about my experiences on Sunday Brunch, head over to our Miso Tasty website for the full low down.
If you missed the show, keep your eyes peeled on our social media @misotasty and @tofutasty for highlights and behind the scenes content, or you can watch the full episode on Channel 4OD on “catch-up”.
I hope you give these dishes a go at your next barbecue, and do share with us your creations!
Thank you once again to Sunday Brunch for hosting me, and allowing us to share these dishes with you all. I love being a guest on the show, and hope to see you all again soon!
