Tofu Tasty TofuWings Nutrition
All tofu is made with only a few pure ingredients.
Fresh tofu is made from soybeans, salt, water and nigari (to set the tofu) while dried tofu is made from only soybeans and water. Both types of tofu are a source of natural plant-based protein and are a natural and healthy ingredient that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced diet.
Natural Plant-based Protein
For those looking for alternatives to meat and are looking to reduce meat consumption, tofu is the perfect solution; it is a great protein source but is not highly processed like vegan fake meats such as “facon” or veggie meat burgers or sausages imitating meat. Tofu is also nutritionally more protein dense than having a jackfruit ingredient in place of a meat centre piece too.
Dried Tofu Has Higher Protein Than Any Fresh Meat Or Vegetables
TofuWings contain a whopping 40% protein which is the highest protein-level of any vegetarian dish on the market and any fresh meat. The dried tofu is formed from the top layer of soy milk and so is nutritionally very rich and concentrated. If your portion of TofuWings is 75g per person, then you will be consuming 34g of protein per portion!
Fibre
As tofu is made from soybeans, a legume, tofu contains a good level of fibre too. Between 5-8%.
Preparation Is Key
As with all ingredients, the method of preparation has a big impact on the healthiness of that ingredient, for example, deep fried tofu vs simmered tofu will have different health properties. As a general rule, not cooking the tofu too much and with minimal oil will give you the healthiest way of enjoying tofu.
TofuWings
My Coca Cola tofu knot skewers are inspired by a Hong Kong classic, Coca Cola chicken wings. Savoury, sweet and sticky, this is the ultimate BBQ marinade. Here, we have applied this classic sauce to our favourite Craft Tofu Knots from our sister brand Tofu Tasty, and served on a skewer for easy sharing with your guests.
