How to cook Tofu Knots - choose your texture!

As Tofu Knots are fairly new outside of China, we want to share with you some of our favourite ways to cook tofu knots.

You can simply add it to your stir-fries, curries or as a swap for pasta! There is no right or wrong way to prepare tofu knots, it all depends on your preference!
Before you begin to cook the tofu knots, immerse them in cold water for at least 2 hours to hydrate your tofu, then DRAIN in a colander before cooking. This step of drying out the outside of the tofu knot allows the tofu to take on flavour or a crispy coating.

Below are some of our top ways to enjoy our tofu knots everyday.

Crispy & Crunchy

Toss and coat the knots in plenty of cornflour (gluten-free) or plain flour. Deep fry for 2-minutes or pan-fry all sides for 5 minutes in hot oil until golden and crispy. Drain on kitchen paper for excess oil. Now add to your curries, stir-fries, or your favourite sauces.

Crispy & flakey

For a lighter option, tofu knots can be baked. This method uses less oil but makes the tofu knots flakier in texture. Simply coat lightly in vegetable oil and bake on a lined tray in a 180 degree fan oven for 15 minutes until golden and crispy.
Now add to your curries, stir-fries, or your favourite sauces.

Soft & Silky

If you want a softer texture, you can try cooking tofu knots the Asian way which involves simmering it in broth soups or in a sauce. You can add them to your miso soup broth to serve on top of ramen, or add it to your hot and sour soup for a meaty texture. We love to braise it in a sweet soy sauce with garlic, to serve with rice for a hearty meal. This way of cooking tofu knots is healthier and easier without the extra steps of baking or frying.
